6 Pack Band Wiki, Members, Story, Facts, and More

6 Pack Band

6 Pack Band, also known as Six Pack Band, is a groundbreaking Indian musical group. This transgender band has made a significant impact on the Indian music scene and beyond.

An Inspiring Musical Journey

Launched in 2016 by Y-Films, the youth entertainment arm of Yash Raj Films, 6 Pack Band was formed from auditions of nearly 200 aspiring musicians. This initiative, a first of its kind in India, aimed to provide a platform and visibility for transgender talent often marginalized in society. Ashish Patil, head of Y-Films, highlighted the dire need for such a project, noting the lack of opportunities and dignity afforded to transgender individuals.

The initiative also received significant support from prominent figures like actress Anushka Sharma and singer Sonu Nigam, who lent their voices and platforms to promote the band.

A Gamechanger in India’s Entertainment Industry

The band’s debut cover of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” retitled “Hum Hain Happy,” instantly captured the hearts of audiences. Anushka Sharma provided a powerful voiceover introduction to this defining track.

Their success continued with a string of popular hits, demonstrating their versatility and musical talent:

  • “Ae Raju” – featuring Hrithik Roshan
  • “Raula Paye Gaya” – the official song for Salman Khan’s film “Sultan”
  • “Hil Pori Hila” – featuring Arjun Kapoor
  • “Sab Rab De Bande” – featuring Sonu Nigam

Their international recognition culminated in a performance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017, where they won the prestigious Cannes Grand Prix Glass Lions Award and nine Emvies Awards.
