Her higher education included a BA Honors in English Language and Literature and an MA in English from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, followed by an LLB from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi.

On May 5, 2013, she married Ashok Basoya, a former Vice-President of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) and an advocate who is also a member of the All India Congress Committee.
