Veda Krishnamurthy was born on October 16, 1992, in Kadur, Karnataka, India. Her passion for cricket ignited at the young age of three, playing street cricket. This early passion led her to pursue cricket seriously. She received her primary education at Cambridge School in Bangalore and also briefly studied Karate, achieving a black belt at the age of 12. However, her true calling lay in cricket. At age 13, she began formal training at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket, guided by her influential coach, Irfan Sait, who played a key role in shaping her cricketing career. Her move to Bengaluru was pivotal in her development as a cricketer. Veda also credits Irfan Sait as her first coach. She completed her higher education with an arts degree from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.

A right-handed batter and right-arm leg-break bowler, Veda’s cricketing journey began with Karnataka Women and Railways before she stepped onto the international stage. At 18, she made her Women’s One Day International (WODI) debut against England in June 2011, scoring a memorable half-century (51 runs). Her T20 debut followed on the same tour against Australia. She was part of the Indian Women’s team in the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, and also played in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) for the Hobart Hurricanes. A significant milestone in her career was becoming the youngest Indian woman cricketer to score 1,000 runs in WODIs.
