Career
Priya’s acting career began early. While still in school, she took part in the theatre play Haya Vadan (1969) alongside Kalpana Lajmi. At just 15, she appeared in a television commercial for a sewing machine. Her Bollywood debut came in 1974 with the film Ankur.
She went on to star in numerous films, including Minchina Ota (1980), Nasoor (1985), Besahara (1987), Mohra (1994), Trimurti (1995), and Gupt (1997). Her role in the Doordarshan serial Rajani (1985) brought her immense popularity, with many people beginning to call her by the character’s name.
Priya’s television career was equally prolific. She featured in many Hindi TV serials such as Yug (1996), Itihaas (1996), Hum Paanch (1995), and Professor Pyarelal (1999). She also hosted popular talk shows, Priya Tendulkar Talk Show and Zimmedar Kaun, and appeared in various TV commercials.
Death
Priya Tendulkar passed away on September 19, 2002, at her Prabhadevi residence in Mumbai due to a heart attack. She had also been battling breast cancer for a considerable time.
