Amulya Leona was born on July 31, 2000 (age 23 years as of 2023) in Koppa, Karnataka, India. Her astrological sign is Leo. She received her early education at St. Joseph’s School in Koppa, Karnataka, attending from lower KG to the 4th grade. Her schooling continued at Christ School, Manipal, where she completed the 5th and 6th grades. Subsequently, she completed the 7th and 8th grades at St. Norbel CBSE School, also in Karnataka. She then pursued her pre-university education at Sadvidya Composite Pre-University in Karnataka. In 2018, she enrolled at NMKRV College for Women in Karnataka, pursuing a degree in English, Journalism, and Psychology. By 2019, she had begun working as a translator and interpreter at the Bangalore Recording Company.

Controversy

Amulya Leona became embroiled in a significant controversy following her recitation of pro-Pakistani slogans (“Pakistan Zindabad!”) at an anti-CAA rally organized by the AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on February 20, 2020. Asaduddin Owaisi, the President of the AIMIM, along with others, attempted to intervene. Despite this, she continued, subsequently chanting “Hindustan Zindabad.” Local police intervened, confiscating her microphone and filing an FIR against her under Section 124A (sedition) and Sections 153A and 153B (promoting enmity) of the Indian Penal Code. She was subsequently placed in 14 days of judicial custody.

  • In December 2019, she began protesting against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act 2019), utilizing social media platforms, including the dating app Tinder, to disseminate her views.
  • On February 16, 2020, she posted on her Facebook account: “Long live for all countries including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.”
  • Following the incident involving Amulya, another individual, Arudra, was also taken into custody on February 21, 2020, for displaying a placard that read “Dalit Mukti, Kashmir Mukti, and Muslim Mukti” in Kannada.
