He received his early education at Green School, Dehradun, and later attended Scindia School in Gwalior at the age of eight.

Initially aspiring to be a scientist, he pursued Zoology at Hans Raj College, University of Delhi, graduating in 1993. Post-graduation, he engaged in street plays before moving to Mumbai with a meager Rs. 5000. His early days in Mumbai were challenging, involving periods of homelessness before finding work at Prithvi Theatre.
