Hemant Soren was born on Sunday, August 10, 1975 (age 49 as of 2024), in Nemra, Ramgarh District, Bihar (now Jharkhand). His astrological sign is Leo. Career
Soren’s political career began with his unsuccessful attempt at the 2005 Jharkhand Assembly Elections. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha on June 24, 2009, but resigned on January 4, 2010, after winning the Dumka assembly seat. In 2009, he became the JMM’s working president. His rise continued with his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand on September 11, 2010, under Chief Minister Arjun Munda.
He subsequently became Jharkhand’s fifth and youngest Chief Minister on July 13, 2013, at the age of 38. After the BJP’s victory in the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, he resigned. He later won the Barhait assembly constituency in the same election. He served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly from January 8, 2015.
In January 2019, before the 2019 Assembly Elections, Soren formed the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) with the Congress, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P), and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He led the alliance against the BJP and became the Chief Ministerial candidate. His victory in the 2019 elections saw him sworn in as Chief Minister for a second time on December 29, 2019.
