Sanam Puri was born on Thursday, 30 June 1992 (age 31 years; as of 2023) in Muscat, Oman. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He completed his schooling at the Indian School in Muscat. He later enrolled at Kirori Mal College in Delhi, but left after six months.

Career

Samar and Venky (bass guitar), schoolmates, formed a band in 2003. Samar recruited Sanam as the vocalist. After school, they moved to India, becoming involved in the college rock circuit. Sanam participated in numerous singing competitions, winning consistently. He was also part of a Delhi-based band called ‘Bandish’.

Venky connected with Keshav Dhanraj (drummer), leading to the formation of “The Previous Band,” which was short-lived due to members pursuing musical studies in Los Angeles. In 2009, Sanam and his brother moved to Mumbai to pursue music. Venky reunited the band members, and in 2010, they competed in “Times Music Supastars” as “SQS Project.”

As SQS Supastars/Project, they released their debut album, “Supastars.” In 2012, they met Ben Thomas, who managed their career. They released subsequent albums: Samar Sanam (2011), Sanam Revolution (2018), and compilation albums like In Love with Sanam (2017). They gained recognition through YouTube, starting with a cover of ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ in October 2012. The band also achieved success with their original songs.

In 2014, the band was renamed ‘Sanam,’ meaning ‘love’ in several languages. Sanam made his Bollywood playback singing debut with “Dhat Teri Ki” (2013) and his Telugu debut with “E Kadha” (2014). He also made his Bengali debut. Their single “Sanam Mennu” (2018) earned them “Artist of the Month” on MTV Beats. The band has numerous hit singles, including “Tu Yahaan,” “Ek Pyar Nagma,” and many others.
