Shahnawaz Pradhan was born on Friday, December 6, 1963 (age 59 at the time of death) in Raj Khariar, Nuapada, Orissa. His zodiac sign was Sagittarius. At the age of seven, his family relocated to Raipur due to his father’s health concerns. He completed his schooling at Raipur’s Government High School. A pivotal moment arrived in class 7 when he was selected for a school play, igniting his passion for acting. This led him to join several local drama groups.

After graduation from Raipur’s Ravishankar University, a life-changing encounter occurred in 1984. Habib Tanveer, a renowned theatre artist, was a visiting professor. He involved students in a play, and subsequently, Pradhan joined Tanveer’s theatre group, “Naya Theatre,” embarking on a five-year journey of theatrical performances across India.

His notable stage roles included productions like “Charandas Chor,” “Lala Shohrat Rai,” “Hirma Ki Amar Kahani,” and “Mitti Ki Gaadi.” In 1991, he made the move to Mumbai, aiming to establish himself in the film and television industry.

His acting journey began with Doordarshan’s show, “Jan Se Jantantra Tak.” He rose to prominence portraying “Nand Baba” in the epic television series “Shri Krishna.” His versatility extended to diverse roles, including “Sindbad the Sailor” in “Alif Laila.”

His television credits include a wide range of shows such as “Byomkesh Bakshi,” “Tota Weds Maina,” “Bandhan Saat Janmon Ka,” and “Suite Life of Karan and Kabir.” He also made a significant impact in Bollywood, notably with the role of “Hafiz Saeed” in the film “Phantom” (2015).

Further showcasing his talent, he appeared in films like “Bangistan” and “Raees,” and the Amazon Prime series “Mirzapur.” Beyond film and television, he also featured in numerous commercials for brands such as Century Plywood, Honda Activa 4G, and Droom.

Death

Tragically, on February 18, 2023, he suffered a heart attack following chest pains at an award function in Mumbai. He was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he passed away.
