Her insightful advice to diversify into pharmaceuticals proved pivotal for the family business during the challenging Datta Sawant textile strike of 1982.

In 1988, leveraging her expertise, the Piramals acquired Nicholas Laboratories, renaming it Nicholas Piramal. Swati became Vice Chairperson of Piramal Enterprises Limited that same year, marking a significant turning point in their business journey.
